Barrouallie Secondary in regional schools’ netball tourney

The 2017 senior division secondary schools’ netball champions, Barrouallie Secondary, is St Vincent and the Grenadines entrant to the first ever Caribbean Americas Federation of Netball Associations (AFNA) Champion of Champions netball tournament.

Set for Jamaica next month (July 15-21), Barrouallie Secondary is among 12 institutions from seven countries, which will contest for honours in the inaugural tournament.

Barrouallie Secondary joins two schools each from host Jamaica, St Lucia, Barbados, Dominica and Trinidad and Tobago, and one from Grenada, to make up the lot.

The format of the tournament sees 12 schools stashed into two Pools – A and B, with the two top teams from the pools advancing to the semi-finals, then final.

Schools not making it to the semi-finals, would be engaged in a consolation phase, to determine the minor places.

The Vincentians have been placed in Pool A, and will do battle in the preliminary round of competition versus Dominica State School (Dominica), Holmwood Technical (Jamaica), Christ Church Foundation (Barbados), Scarborough Secondary (Trinidad and Tobago) and Micoud Secondary (St Lucia).

Pool B has Springer Memorial (Barbados), North East Comprehensive (Dominica), Anglican High School (Grenada), Excelsior (Jamaica), Soufriere Secondary (St Lucia), and Toco Secondary (Trinidad and Tobago).

The Leila Robinson Courts will host the round robin phase of the tournament, with the National Netball Centre listed for the semi-finals and final and the GC Foster College, the venue for the minor places.
